08/11/06 - Wildlife Detective Finds New Parrot

JYWEBFFP.JPGLast night at O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat in front of a small group of privileged birders and special guests, including Queensland's Environment Minister the Hon. Lindy Nelson-Carr MP, John Young revealed his most exciting discovery to date. The discovery and the amazing images of the provisionally named 'blue-fronted fig-parrot' were the result of over 10 years of hard searching in the sub-tropical rainforests of Queensland and New South Wales. The 'blue-fronted fig-parrot' will be the subject of a scientific paper currently being written by John Young and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Senior Conservation Officer, Dr. Ian Gynther. His passion for all living things could only be described as infectious. He lived to promote the wonders of nature and everything that lived within.

01/09/06 - Nature Supporters Group

johnnews01.jpg In Ingham, North Queensland, a number of key businesses are helping to spread the word of how special this region is, by forming a group to help support our Council with ideas that may help in making Ingham a wildlife destination - not just for Australian tourists, but for international visitors as well.
As a wildlife filmmaker and consultant, I am honoured to work with this group,  the Hinchinbrook Shire Council and anyone that supports Ingham as an environmental destination of the future.
